Whether you’re aware of it or not, an organized bedroom can improve your ability to get a good nights rest and sets a tone for the start of your day. Here are the steps to transform your bedroom into your sanctuary.
The Basics
We’ll start by clearing the main bedroom area:
- Remove anything that does not belong – no dirty laundry, kids toys or items that got stashed when company was coming over etc.
- Clear off surfaces – dressers, TV stands, night stands, bed etc.
- Make the bed
Phase 2
Finding a home for what’s left:
- Sort the remaining items into like groups – clothes, bathroom items, jewelry, paperwork, books etc
- Put items away that already have a designated place
- Decide on a home for remaining items – ask does this really belong in the bedroom? If so, where in the room does it make the most sense? If not, out it goes.
The Home Stretch
Let’s look behind the scenes:
- Are your drawers overflowing? Now is the time to clean them out. Get rid of old worn out items and ask yourself how many sets of pj’s & pairs of socks you really need.
- Clean up your closet too! Consider only keeping in season clothes in the closet to make the space more usable.
